    As a high-tech, GPS has obtained some applications in the construction of hydropower projects in China, but its application in dam and slope safety monitoring is a very weak link. The barriers that affect the widespread use of GPS technology in safety monitoring systems are costly and less automated. Since the receivers need to be installed at both the monitoring point and the base station, when monitoring is carried out in a large area such as a dam or a slope, there are many measuring points to be laid, and the input cost is large. If the batch observation method is used, it takes a long time. The cycle, therefore, greatly restricts the development of GPS in this field.
